Advantages

• More economical than Halogen, Quartz or Incandescent
• 24,000 hour life
• Became popular in landscape lighting in the 1960's
• Color is usually closer to "moonlight"

Disadvantages

• Contains Mercury
• Will not be produced after 2016
• Takes 10+ minutes to get to full brightness
• Unable to dim
